Moss the Goose Dog
Meet Moss, the Ford House Goose Dog
He's also the director of Wildlife Management
Moss the Ford House Goose Dog has been a beloved part of our team since 2016. Born in Athabasca, Alberta, Canada, Moss was expertly trained by Lisa Wright (lisawright.ca) before joining the estate as Director of Wildlife Management.
Each day, you’ll find Moss the Ford House Goose Dog patrolling the property, chasing off Canada geese, and helping keep our grounds as goose-free—and yes, goose poop–free—as possible. He plays a critical role in making the estate more enjoyable for guests and staff alike.
We know what you’re thinking. Yes, we’ve talked about that part too—read more on our blog for the full scoop on geese, droppings, and why Moss’s job is so important
Moss is a Border Collie, a breed celebrated for its energy, intelligence, and affectionate nature. Athletic and medium-sized, Border Collies have a variety of coat patterns and colors—black and white being the most iconic. Their sharp minds and trainability make them ideal for jobs requiring focus and agility, which is exactly why Moss excels at his role here.
For a Border Collie like Moss, having a job is more than a task—it’s a calling. He thrives on working outdoors, greeting guests, and helping Ford House stay as goose-free as possible.
